What Are You Deathly Afraid Of?

Okay folks, now is the time to fess up your fears! What are you deathly afraid of? I don't mean like, a minor phobia or fear. I mean like, you hyperventilate every time you see/experience this thing.

For me, it's snakes. Any kind of snake I absolutely HATE! I just went to www.cnn.com and the main page was about the new species they discovered. Normally I think, "Hey, cool!" But not this time. The picture that popped up was a nasty green, EVIL looking snake head with it's nasty scary eyes! I immediately jumped, closed the window, and took a breather because I think my heart stopped momentarily.

When I was in high school (and still very deathly afraid of snakes) some friends and I were canoeing down the Mad River in Ohio. Suddenly, a freaking Water Moccasin came from in the water into our boat and started hissing at us! Upon seeing the thing, I literally jumped right into the water, not caring where we were or how dangerous that might be. My friends were able to kill it and measure it. It ended up being about 4 feet long!

It's so bad for me, I can't look at pictures, movies, tv shows, or ANYTHING that has to do with snakes. I had a breakthrough a few months back when I actually went into the snake house of the Fort Worth Zoo with my fiancee guiding the way. She told me all the exhibits I could look in and not be scared. It's seriously that bad for me.

If a snake came into my room right now, I SERIOUSLY wouldn't hesitate to jump out the window.

So, what does it for you?

Snakes for me too. I just saw an episode of Untamed and Uncut on Animal Planet tonight where an exotic animal handler was bitten on the stomach by a monocled cobra. As the snake was striking him, I could feel myself cringe.

You are totally braver than I would be! I would have to immediately change the channel and start thinking happy thoughts.

I can watch stuff about snakes, I actually think they are cool. I just wouldn't ever want to come across anything out in the wild. I had an encounter with a garter snake this summer that was up on the front porch. When I went and got a coat hanger to try and get it off the porch and release it into the grass, it slung itself around the corner of the house and went underneath the siding ! I've never seen anything like that before. I called the landlord and he just caulked the hole. Hopefully the darn thing either died or found somehwere else (other than inside the house) to escape.
