    solution: get a PS3...

    hope that helps!

I have one, but I hated it (IDK why) so now it is just a Blu Ray player.

Just call Microsoft. They cover the 3 rings of death most of the time, even if you are without a warranty. I think as long as it is within 3 years of the purchase or something like that. I've had to send mine in twice and it was replaced for free both times and I never purchased any type of warranty.

My 3 year warranty ran out exactly 7 days before it broke...

Mine has gotten the 3 Red Rings twice within a year, the most recent being in August. You just call 1-800-4MY-XBOX and talk to someone and they will e-mail you a shipping label. Then, you print it out, stick it to a box, put the 360 inside, and send it out. 2-4 weeks later, you either get your fixed X-box or a totally new one with a free month of X-box Live. I hope this helped!

Well, now that you have opened the console itself, there is no chance that they fix it for free, because you voided the warranty. I know it was up , but I think that even when it's up that they'll fix it for you if you get RROD. Have you considered going to a 3rd party for repairs? There are a few companies who you can send it to and they will fix it for you for less than what Microsoft charges. The only real disadvantage for going that route is that it would void your warranty, which you have already done, so what do you have to lose?
