refractor that doesn't refract...
hi- I just got in a trade a 98 finest derek jeter no-protector card. It has the little "R" on the back next to the number, but it doesn't refract- the front is normal. Any idea what the story is with a card like that? Thanks- zev

Hey Zev-
I haven't heard of an error refractor like that. I would email Topps and ask them about it.....maybe they would let you send it back and replace it?
Peace~

I agree with BlackDiamond66. I got out my Standard Catalog of Baseball and found no such error in there too.

Hi Zev, Look, this may not help much but I thought I'd throw my
two cents in here. I'm an old time collector (hahaha-late 70s)
and I remember a collector buddy of mine back then when the
1998 products had come out telling me they was "error
refractors", that were not really refractors in that Finest stuff.
I think I even had some of them once.
Boy, long time ago. I can hardly remember what happened yesterday. If you've got an "old time" long term dealer in your
area, ask him about an error refractor in that Finest stuff from
1998.
Yea, I got out "The Bible" and looked it up but there's no mention of it in there. One of those things the hobby just forgets about.
I've got a "collection" of error stuff they (Beckett) never have
talked about.
Just my imput.
