You said in the thread you voted for Steve Harris?

The list, as with all the lists involved with these musician polls, was derived from lists on DigitalDreamDoor.com. DDD is the site with the most comprehensive and objective lists I've found so far. Just about every other list is one or a few people listing their favorites and calling them "the best ever." And as with all lists, there will always be people who disagree...

i checked out that list and out of 150 drummers ranked and another 50 honorable mentions, the name Questlove doesn't appear anywhere??? Was this simply an oversight? Or is it that being the drummer for The Roots, a Philadelphia hip hop group, disqualify him? He should easily be in the top 50 of all drummers of all time, if not higher...

of course, this is all just my opinion

It depends on what you are basing "best ever".

Definitely...no matter how objective these things try to be, there's still personal opinion all over it whether it's who you enjoy listening to more or what you think is considered more skillful.

I got no clue. I know Questlove has skills, but I don't know nearly enough about him to say how good he is. The lists on that site are Greatest Rock Drummers, Most Skilled Drummers, and Greatest Jazz Drummers. Obviously he wouldn't be on the Rock or Jazz lists because that's not what he plays. The Most Skilled though, I dunno...they didn't think he was as skilled as the ones on it apparently.

Looks like Claypool is going to win..

I have to let it run a little longer...Flea and Entwistle haven't even gotten the 5 votes they had in the other poll yet and they should have at least that many, if not more.
