I'd make sure to rub down the card as well, as even the smallest bit of gloss can ruin the auto.

I must say that I tried to get some autos on 08 football cards this summer at AZ cardinals camp. They have a shine or sheen whatever on them and the sharpie got real streaky. I really am kicking myself for not rubbing them down before getting there and getting the likes of Fitzgerald, Boldin, Leinert, Warner, etc.

Some are OK, but most look like doo doo!!!

If you have lots of them, just take a few commons and experiment with pens, sharpies, etc. paint pens work really well I have noticed on mini helmets and maybe even shiny cards. Its worth a few dollars to get some diff. pens and try them all out. Saves on the postage and heartbreak of that auto you want REALLY bad being a not so good auto. If its a big name, you may never get another chance!

    Good luck
