Going To My FIRST NBA Game on Saturday!!

Well, as you can tell I'm more of a football/baseball guy and have never been to a professional basketball game. However, that will all change this weekend.

My fiancee is a fan of the Dallas Mavericks but has never been to a game and has always said she's wanted to go. So I'm surprising her with tickets to the game this weekend in Dallas against the Utah Jazz. Should be a good time!

Any advice or suggestions on how to maximize the fun at the basketball game? I'll be sure to get some pictures and put them up after the game!

Just don't be late LOL. I get so mad at myself when I am late. It's fun to see the starting line ups and shootaround etc. Have fun and I bet she will be so excited :)

One of my good friends was getting recruited by Cleveland State University to play basketball and to help with their recruiting they set him up with tickets 2 row behind Cleveland's bench. He was literally arm's length from Lebron, and being from missouri we don't really get to go to NBA games.

And to make things better for him, it was the playoffs against Washington last year. He took a bunch of pictures and ended up signing to play for Cleveland State.

My suggestion for you is to just try and keep one eye on the game and one eye on Mark Cuban lol!!! and just have fun.

eat before you go- NBA food prices are even more ridiculous than NFL or MLB. Other than that, as others have said- just have a good time, and expect a pretty good game- NBA arenas are in general really up tempo, so expect a lively crowd

Seeing basketball games in person is exceptionally fun. You can see so much more on the court than you can on TV, and the excitement the fans build up is way better than hearing commentators blab like on television.

get there nice and early for shootarounds.....in most places they'll let you go down to the floor and you might be able to get some autographs

Oh yeah we've already planned on eating before we go. Thanks Ed, can't wait for the up-tempo fans!

Haha thanks Molly! I think that won't be a problem. Everytime I go to a baseball game I ALWAYS get there as soon as they open the gates so I can see Batting Practice. I'd love to see shootaround and maybe get some autographs!

Hahaha I'll see if I can bum a few thousand bucks off him!

Thanks Khendra! I look forward to seeing it all! Look for me on Sportscenter!

That's my plan! My fiancee is big into my collecting habit and she'd love to help me get some autographs! Maybe we can convince the guards that it's her life-long dream to meet Dirk. They'll believe us, right?

Don't have any advice, as I haven't been to a game either, but have a great time! Should be a decent game too - seeing 2 of the best PGs in the game today playing!
