I plan on making my first trading post this weekend after I open a couple new hobby boxes. Do you guys usually pay the extra money to get delivery confirmation when you send cards?

Use a bubble mailer. I found some site online with 100 for $10 but I can't find it anymore. If I do I'll tell you.

I do both, if it's a small trade for 1-2 base cards it is not worth the extra postage, so I just discuss it with the other person beforehand. For the most part you want to use bubble mailers and if you don't want to just make sure you discuss it first.

I personally don't unless the trade involves a card worth more than say $25 or it's agreed to beforehand. If it's something worth a lot to you it may be worth it. just discuss whatever you decide with the other trader beforehand.
