Indoctrinate U...unbelievable documentary
I've noticed there's a fair amount of college students on the boards (I am one myself...freshman at St. Joe's) and I recently saw a documentary hosted by the College Republicans called "Indoctrinate U." It was put together by a young filmmaker to expose the radical left that permeates the modern-day campuses of the U.S. It gives a bunch of examples of Conservative students (and a few faculty) being ostracized and punished for their views and tries to show how one-sided colleges and universities have become.
Even if you consider yourself slightly left of center, you're going to be stunned by the antics of some of these radicals.
Here's the trailer...All 10 parts of the series are posted on YouTube
Note to mods: If it's not within the rules to post a video feel free to remove it...I'm still pretty new at this

I attend Berkeley. If you don't at the least sympathize with what the liberals are doing, you will be crushed like there's no tomorrow. I am a "liberal" but not an extreme one - I have seen and heard of acts by liberal groups around campus that are ridiculous. I know Berkeley is an extreme case though.

I've always been concerned about this, being a conservative who is planning on going to college for political science. That's why I'm trying to get out of my home state of New York and go to college in the south.

I just finished watching this on Youtube...this is one of the most shocking films I have ever seen. I am honestly afraid to go to college after seeing this.

Yeah shocking is a good way to describe it...I think the best advice it gives is to just keep your mouth shut when it comes to discussing race on campus. It's just not worth being labeled a racist

So, after watching this film let me comment...
I was very politically active during undergrad. I was the founder/chairman of the College Republicans, and the Students for the 2nd Amendment groups so as you can imagine I had to deal with a lot of B.S.
When it comes to dealing with faculty, you are always going to have radical professors (mainly because law and education are the only career paths openly-communist people can get). Many of these professors, while steadfast in their own beliefs, will tolerate dissenting opinions so long as you have facts or ideas to back them up. Of course there are always the intolerant few but in my experience they are the exception, not the rule.
I found that my biggest obstacle during undergrad were not professors, but fellow students that had differing opinions. We had an alternative newspaper called "The Emancipator" which we distributed around campus, and like in the video, were stolen before most people could get their hands on them so we just started handing them out by hand. Also, most of the funding for those alternative presses is obtained from a litany of conservative groups out there or by the university student activities board itself so I doubt the group lost any "hard earned" money.
Being that I was the chairman of the group, whenever we were attacked I was pretty diplomatic about it and that usually quelled further attacks because they saw I was actually an alright guy... of course, the other members of our group didn't need to save so much face and really did a lot of in-your-face stuff to the other groups such as openly calling people out and what not. That was always fun.
I guess what I'm trying to say Jay, is that not every liberal prof is going to scold you for speaking your mind - although he may engage in debate with you so be prepared for that. I can tell you're a smart guy so just use your best judgment in what you say around whoever.
