Yao-Tmac rift?
Story
The Rockets are putting a positive spin on this, but Waiting for Tracy McGrady is a play that nobody in Houston wants to see anymore -- up to and including the big man, Yao Ming.
"They don't speak," an extremely plugged-in person tells me. "And Yao wants him out."
That's not likely this season, as McGrady's $20.3 million is toxic to too many teams' luxury tax plans. Next summer, though, when McGrady will have an expiring, $22.4 million contract, teams may well circle the Rockets looking to make a deal.
It's not personal between Yao and McGrady. They like one another. But Yao's frustration is real.

Rockets are denying this, but I'm not surprised. Tmac can be a great player, but he's one of the least reliable stars in the league.

As much as I like McGrady's game, I think it is up to player to take care of his health.
I mean, if he cannot stay out from the injury every season, we have to question his ability to stay fit and healthy.
If you are trying to become a "great" player, you need to stay away from injuries and that only comes if your regular daily routines and conditionings (including off-season) is good.
I mean, T-mac was once a scoring champion and he was viewed as the leading figure in NBA for a while.
Look at Jordan, Kobe or KG. Except for Jordan's second year, they all kept themselves out from injuries throughout their careers and established themselves as great players of all times.
I am really sorry to see Yao complain about this because with healthy T-mac and Artest, they are a serious contender.

T-Mac's consistent, nagging, injuries make this very understandable. I think anyone would be frustrated with the situation as it is as well. Neither Yao nor T-Mac are good enough to be the only star on a team and lead that team to the 2nd round of the playoffs. Together, they could, but with all the injuries between them, they play by themselves more than they play with each other.

Yao denies this gossip and is actually rather upset over it:
