    Alonzo Mourning hopeful for return

MIAMI (AP) -- Alonzo Mourning is sprinting, jumping and dunking. That doesn't mean the former All-Star will soon be playing.

The former and perhaps future Miami Heat center said Saturday he still doesn't know if he can return to the rigors of the NBA, even though his recovery from devastating knee and leg injuries 13 months ago is going far better than any doctor could originally imagine.

He won't be at the form he once was, but he could still make a case to be a nice backup, and would help the Heat, I'm sure.

He's not under contract with the Heat, but works out at the team's facility several times a week and still has a spot in the Miami locker room.

Man, I love that the Heat have been good to him through all this. It's always good to see a team take care of one of the good ones out there. Especially when it's my fav player heh.

I would love to see Zo back in the NBA, and it sounds like he's got his mind right making sure he's got plans for his life after basketball being just as important. I agree, if he does come back it wouldn't be for more than 1 season. I know it bothers him that the 2-3 times he has had to leave the game, it wasn't by choice. If he doesn't return, he had a damn good career given his kidney and later knee probs.
