Xbox live is full has every type of player. Every once in a while you'l get some super retarded a-holes spurting off pretty obscene/racist type bs. But the large majority of the time when Im on, its all good. The quality on the mikes arent that great and I think a lot of people shy away from it because its not that easy to communicate unless you're in a private party.

As far as hearing people on your tv, thats a setting you can adjust. And you can mute certain players if you want. Surprisingly enough I dont experience much smack talk. The occasional stuff pops up, but mostly not. Of course I dont play everything out there, I stick to Call of Duty 4 & 5 for the most part.

What you can expect is to get your @ss whupped starting out on games. Typically there are so many people that have been playing for so long it takes some getting used to the pace and speed of play. Which is a great challenge and all in all I absolutely love xbox live. Happy playing, enjoy!

The smack talkers drive me insane! All I can tell you is keep at it. I wouldn't play without the headset simply because you'll probably brew up a very good comeback eventually. That's what happened with me. Now I can counter almost anything they say! Good luck to you!
