Who is the better postseason pitcher? Josh Beckett or El Duque?
http://zellspinstripeblog.com/2009/0...t-or-el-duque/
When you talk about great postseason pitchers in the last 15 years, the first name that comes to mind may be Josh Beckett. What about Orlando Hernandez? Maybe his name doesn’t come up anymore because he is no longer with the Yankees, and he hasn’t been to the postseason in the 3 years. You can make the argument that he is just as good, if not a better postseason pitcher than Josh Beckett.

Beckett is a beast, but if you look at his stats he only goes into beast mode every other season. Like last year he was average and statistics show he should be back to his dominate self this upcoming season.

I'd have to say Beckett. Not only did he dominate in 2007, but he (along with Pudge) was the reason the Marlins won in '03, not Bartman. Before the infamous Bartman game, Beckett shut down the Cubs in game five. He came out of the bullpen in relief to shut down the Cubs in game 7 on short rest.
El Duque has great numbers, but the team didn't ride his great pitching performances like the the Marlins and Sox did.

first, I'd like to say "man that site is a biased", actually says in the article 'most TRUE fans know how good he is. One of the points in the article is that he has a better record and two more rings. He also was in nearly twice as many postseason series as Beckett which can easily explain having more wins, Duque was a lot more wild then Beckett is but to his credit he got out of a lot of jams he created
yeah I'd say easily Beckett. El Duque only has ERA over on Beckett
Beckett 87 innings 20 walks 97 strikeouts - 8 postseason series
Duque 106 innings 55 walks 107 strikeouts - 15 postseason series
