    SCF Instant Messenger

I have turned on the SCF Instant Messenger (IM) system for SCF staff and VIP Members. Check out the SCF IM Tutorial for full details.

I've worked hard to continue to add to the VIP Membership to make it well worth the $20 cost. Items like the Trade Manager, Chat Room, IM System, Blog System and other features cost a lot of money to develop/purchase and implement. Take advantage of the SCF VIP Membership as one year cost less than an average pack of cards!

Here is what you get with our VIP system:

    • Use of our IM system
    • Use of our blog system
    • PM Space: 500
    • Gallery images: 100
    • Can Upload Signature banner to SCF Server: Yes, no need to host your banner on Photobucket or somewhere else!
    • Most ads removed (ads after first post, in PM, side column and footer)
    • Can set self "invisible" and not be seen by other members
    • Receives an extra 140 Card Cash for referrals (10 normally, 150 for VIP Members)
    • Receives extra 150 Card Cash on birthday (50 normally, 200 for VIP Members)
    • VIP Member badge -
    • Name change once a year.
    • FREE Card Cash Auction Pass (Save 800 Card Cash a month!)
    • Given priority when SCF offers packs for Card Cash! (48 hours or more)
    • Given priority when cards from sponsored breaks are placed into the CC store.

    just curious

a while ago i insisted on setting up an mIRC channel for SCF, but was told that no need to because SCF was coming out with their own

and now it costs 20$ to use it?

    Andrew

EDIT: one time 20$ payment or 20$/month?

I really don't think thats right myself. I personally think an IRC chatroom would be more fit for us all.

It does not cost $20 a month to use chat. Chat is 100% free and IM is one of many features in the VIP program. The VIP program is $20 a year and IM is part of it.

Because of issues in the past, we needed to set up a chat room that was compatible with the forum and the usernames being who you truly are. mIRC will not integrate into the forum software to provide that which is needed.

    Thanks!

I want to make everything clear so their is no confusion. :) The Chat room is available for all SCF members. We are putting together a chat schedule now and it will be published shortly. Stay tuned for that.

The Instant Messenger is an add on to chat that allows members to take conversations off line in the chat room or on the SCF forums. This will allow members to make deals instantly and cut down on the PMs and time it takes to make deals.

We have over hundred active VIP members on SCF that have paid $20. They have spend their hard earned money supporting SCF and in return I will continue to increase the benefits to their membership. For less than $1.67 a month we offer VIPs well over a dozen extras on SCF. I feel that the program is very cheap. I have added tons of extras to the VIP membership and have never raised the cost of the program.

Upgrading the trade manager, adding live chat, blogs, Instant Messenger and tons of other services cost money. Hosting SCF on a powerful server cost money. SCF will ALWAYS be a free site with paid benefits. The VIP program offers members a way to support SCF while enjoying more benefits on the site. The core of SCF will always remain free!

Adding the the chat room to all members while making the IM system available to VIPs and SCF staff only makes sense. The VIPs sponsor the site and the staff work hard to make SCF spam free and enjoyable. They deserve the extras and I have to find new ways to make the VIP membership attractive to get more sign ups. The more VIP members we get the more I can spend on adding to SCF, improving server performance and promoting the site.

Sounds fair now yes, only problem with chat is, when you join a room, alot of times you cant leave and join another, i have to close out and re-open

and 20$ a year for VIP, ill be able to swing that in a couple weeks and will definetly do so

    Thanks, Andrew

ps. yeah i liked the mirc chatroom idea because its a great chat program, im an Op on a network there so i could have got us a channel, and all it had to be used for was chat, any trades being made would still have to go through SCF of course, its also good advertisement for the site, considering channel i run is home to about 700 - 800 users all the time

The issue with mIRC, much like previous chat rooms we've tried to use, anyone could log in with any username they want. So someone could go in and impersonate Mike and then caused all sorts of chaos or impersonate anyone else for that matter. With a dedicated chat room tied into our SCF profile, a person can only log into chat as their handle on the site.
