So originally they said arrested for possessing and resisting arrest, now they are saying arrested for being with people who were in possession....looks like it's not exactly clear.

very true...just like it's also not clear on if he had his charges dropped because his last name is Obama, or if it was because they had no evidence on him and prosecution would've wasted the courts time and money

Again, not to get into the debate, but I have actually smoked turkish tobacco in a hookah...smoking paraphernalia are not exclusively used for drugs. But if that's what it was, I don't think he would be issuing official apologies either....

good point again...obviously michael phelps was smoking the sticky or there's no need for an apology...no doubt about it...personally, i wish he would've just kept his mouth shut and said nothing...but on the other hand, i kinda wish he'd become the official spokesperson for NORML

hookahs, bongs, glass pipes, etc can all be purchased legally...there are 3 head shops downtown, and have all been in business for years because of all the penn state students...you can go purchase what phelps had, and walk right past a cop, show it to him, and he can't do crap about it...unless there is drug residue, then he can seize it, have it tested, and you can be charged with paraphernalia

i find it laughable that there were actually reports that police were thinking about charging Phelps...they would have to find the bong, find drug residue on the bong, and prove that it is the same bong in the photo...phelps has a better shot at winning 10 gold medals in 2012 than of being charged with paraphernalia...then again, Tommy Chong was sentenced to 9 months in jail for selling glass bongs and pipes (thank you patriot act...you made me safer with Chong off the streets)...he probably could've beat the case, but plead guilty so his wife and son would not be prosecuted

You folks have made my point for me. Since everyone is doing it and it's acceptable then it's OK ! WRONG !!!!!!!

If you're the president's brother and have your charges dropped , you MUST be innocent !

Why is it that the Obama suppoters have such a huge problem highlighting his deficcencies ?

there is nothing immoral about using cannabis...illegal, in 36 states, yes...but not immoral...illegal in Kenya, apparently...but the police officer is even quoted as calling it a petty offense, as most of the world now calls it...it's only a matter of time before it is truely accepted...better jump ship now

If you're the president's brother and have your charges dropped , you MUST be innocent!

or like i said earlier...its not clear if he had his charges dropped because his last name is Obama, or if it was because they had no evidence on him and prosecution would've wasted the courts time and money

in America, you are innocent UNTIL proven guilty...and I believe in that 100%

Why is it that the Obama suppoters have such a huge problem highlighting his deficcencies ?

you have me mistaken for somebody else...Obama is not my savior

his brother, whom he's met once, serves absolutely no reflection on President Obama

I assume you're including me in "you folks," since me, you, and Red are the only ones in the last several posts, and I take major offense to that. You shouldn't jump to outrageous conclusion that have no basis in reason.

    A) I never said it was ok, I said that people do use bongs and hookahs for smoking things other than marijuana sometimes. And I even said he wouldn't be apologizing if he was smoking tobacco, so it must be marijuana. How is that condoning anything? I have no problem with marijuana, I think it's stupid that it's illegal, but it is illegal and that makes it wrong.

I just brought up a couple of points that were missed in the arguments because I believe in fair and true debate, not just throwing out groundless accusations that are purely speculative.

    B) You're right, if you're the President's brother and the charges are dropped, that doesn't necessarily mean you're innocent. But if you're the President's brother and the charges are dropped, that doesn't necessarily make you guilty either. We don't know if he's guilty or not and to assume one way or the other is wrong. You're welcome to you suspicions, I share them with you which is why I posted the article to begin with, but don't even pretend you know for sure one way or the other.

    C) Are you seriously calling me an Obama supporter? SERIOUSLY?!?! Obviously you don't pay much attention to what goes on here because, if you did, you would realize how ridiculous of a sentiment that is. A quick, easy way to see that: Go to the P&R front page, look at the threads against Obama and his administration, then see who the majority of them were started by.

And I wasn't going to get in the middle of this...
