I'm not aware of the third nominee is but the two have stepped down. It's not a good thing, but at least he didn't try to force them through.
I also like that he came out and took responsibility for not finding out about their tax issues.

I completely agree with that. I don't think the government should stick their hands anywhere near the private sector, but in the situation of bailouts, the companies are asking the government to intervene. If they're not willing to either admit defeat or turn things around on their own and ask the government for help, then they have to accept all the crap that comes along with it...basically, they have consented to letting the government foul up whatever they want to. If a company hasn't asked for government help, they should have the freedom to conduct business as they see fit...if they continue to make bad decisions, they won't be conducting business for much longer.
