10 - Mortal Kombat
9 - NBA Jam
8 - Space Invaders
7 - Defender
6 - Galaga
5 - Missile Command
4 - Centipede
3 - Super Street Fighter 2
2 - Pac-Man
1 - Donkey Kong

Not a bad list, but I would drop Donkey Kong a few (4 maybe?), put Galaga at 3, and Pac-Man at Numero Uno. What say you?

Sinistar and Pole Position came out around the same time...

I remember hearing the booming voice saying "Beware I Live" everywhere I went because I would waste rolls of quarters just playing that game in mid 80s...

Actually I think I do remember it vaguely after seeing the pics...when it came to space-based shooting games, I stuck to Galaga.

Pacman should be #1, but you can't argue against Donkey Kong. Another great game that was only in arcades was the Simpsons game

Joust, Dig Dug, and Pole Star need to be on the list along with Asteroids. Pac-Man should be number one.

I always think of Pac-Man first when I think of arcade games.

The Ninja Turtles arcade game deserves honorable mention. I remember when that one hit - could hardly ever get on it since everyone else wanted a piece of the action.

My personal favorite, though not objectively deserving top ten status, was Golden Axe.

There's also games like Double Dragon, Gauntlet and the Original Mario Bros. that deserves to be recognized as well. That's what makes limiting a list to 10 so hard..
