I'm not trying to be funny here - this is an honest question:

Why is everybody so excited over these manufactured "patch" cards? They are not game used, and frankly I don't even think they are attractive. I just don't get why people go crazy for these things. Can somebody explain it?

I would understand if it was game used like the letter patches in Sterling, or I can at least understand it a little bit when SP does the autos on the manufactured patch - at least you have an auto there.

    Thanks.

I hate manufactured patches. Esp. when companies like Topps put sticker autos on top of them.

To be honest, this Clemente patch is very cool looking. It looks old and has a lot of character. It's still not game used, though but it is #'d to 50

I'm the kind of guy that likes the manufactured patches (I want the clemente and I have a nice ripken out of epic http://s524.photobucket.com/albums/c...current=91.jpg). It's about how you look at them. If you look at them as a GU, you'll just get angry. However, if you look at them as I do, which is as a simple insert card with low numbering, you don't get mad about them.

I'm doing a name project with these right now. Some are asking me why these; well, they're affordable, low numbered, and they look really nice. Add in that I'm a baseball history buff (way more than football and basketball history) it makes for a nice set to do the project with. That's my perception on them. They're just an attractive insert set, not GU.

But keep trashing them so I can get them for even less :)

FYI: Kunz is not too bad of a prospect, good pitcher and possible closer for the mets.
