I said 20-25 years ago not year olds. This is 2009, I'm talking about the 1980's and from where I'm at I see kids/teens in the 80's not having respect. I wasn't grouping an age.

you know what... this may be off topic a little but i do take offense to it... i see a whole lot of men in their 60s and 70s that are just as rude and offensive as most kids i see today. I work with an older generation every day and it is just as bad so lets not classify as anyone who grew up in a certain time a certain way... and if you were born in the 80's and raised in the 80's.... it would more than likely make you 20-29

Yeah but I said I wasn't referring to an age group, just mentioned I noticed that 20-25 years AGO that kids/teens/young adults weren't brought up right. For exampe, I know several people whose children aren't under any supervision, they let them run the streets at all hours of the night, if their caught stealing they get a slap on the hand (courts aren't much help either, too easy on them), if they called someone a name or whatever some parents thought is was funny. I'm not saying all kids were brought up that way, just that I saw a higher % from when I was a kid/teen.

Thing is parents are afraid of their kids, back in the day you never heard of reporting your parent for child abuse when they were just disaplining them. My dad would have been in jail for how many times he hit me with a thick leather belt, slapped me in the face so hard my glasses flew off, took a punch at me and if I didn't duck he would have broke my nose instead of putting a hole in the bathroom door.

As for the 60-70 age group that is just (in my opinon) a lot of them think the younger folks need to bow down to them. Now I'm not saying all older people are like that, but I do know of some that think just because their older everyone needs to bent over backwards for them. And don't forget, the fact they are older, personalites change too. Especially if they had a heart attack or something like that, my dad's personallity changed bad after he had his attack, he complained and bitc*ed about everything

Unfortunately, there are always some rude members on every site. As someone mentioned earlier, SCF is one of the largest trading forums - and because of the sheer number of people, there is admittedly a greater likelihood of running into the bad kinds. Nonetheless, I still think this site is the best for trading on the Internet.

You reference your gender in the first post. I am the female collector with the highest number of feedback ratings on this site. Maybe I've been lucky, but I've never been treated badly simply because of my gender. Few traders actually pay attention to it (I get called "bro" and "dude" a lot, but this doesn't bother me; it's just amusing and not relevant to the actual trading). When members are rude, they usually just act that way regardless of who the person is, not because of sex, ethnicity, age, etc.

I'm sure the poster who called you a "retard" has (or will soon) receive disciplinary action. That kind of behavior should never be tolerated - and in my experience as both a longtime regular member and former staff member, it is never taken lightly once attention has been brought to it in the proper manner. PMing staff is usually the preferred manner in dealing with crude members.

I hope you stick around and don't let the occasional crass members ruin the trading experience here for you.

I belong to a lot of trading sites and this one is far worst in respect for one another. I have never seen such name calling and lack of respect for members.

I was just called a retard for no reason and I'm not to happy about that, I'm old enough to be most of you members, mother. Most of you were still getting your nose wiped when I started getting involve with the hobby. I have been collecting off and on since the 70's and more steady in the last 13-14 years.

Or maybe I'm wrong and it's just lack of respect for female collectors. Anyhow, how about think before you type and don't call anyone a name. I'm sure some of your parents brought you up better than that.

I'm sorry to hear about this. As a staff member mentioned, just report the post and action will be taken. We have a warning/infraction system in place that disciplines repeat offenders.

I also do not believe you should judge the site because of one or a handful of members. There are many great members and traders of SCF; of all ages and gender. We also are the largest sports card trading forum on the internet so you will interact with more people here than on other forums.

Oh I plan on staying here, I get my trades from here that I need to get stuff from other sites....lol. Hey I get called dude, and bro too, I think it's funny and wonder if they even notice the pink female sign under my avatar....lol.

It kind of struck me funny to hear that word, I haven't heard anyone use that in ages, thought it died out with groovy, hot pants and right on......lol
