Charles Woodson Question
After 94 days, I received the card I sent to Charles Woodson. When I received it, I noticed there was a small 29 written in red pen on both the back of the card and the envelope. I have several theories about what it is for, but I'm not sure. What are these numbers for? Any help is appreciated!

if i could compare that to anything the 29 it would be when fernando valenzuela crossed out the topps logo on the 2 diff occasions i sent him a card to sign, probably so it would affect the resale value, if you were to sell it, his autos i got of him were going to complete my 1983 topps dodger team set, so that would be my theory to affect any monetary value

My two Woodson cards came back today with the number 24 written on the back. He only signed one of them. Wondering that this is about too.

My guess is that he or somebody took all of the cards and SASE out of your mailing envelope, numbered them, and then he signed all the cards he had at once. Then he put card #24 back in SASE #24 and mailed out them. Instead of opening one letter, signing the card, putting it back in the SASE, and repeat, he might have done what I mentioned above. That would be the only thing I could think of.
I got 2/2 back from him earlier this year during the season, I'll see if mine have anything on the back.

Ya, that is probably the reason. I read about that somewhere on another site- aj hawk returns had a number in the inside of the sase and on the card. hope that helps

Sure enough, the number 24 is written on the bank of my sase. Too bad both of my cards came back numbered but only one was signed.

It could be a contest: If you get a hand written #21, you win 10% of his salary in 2009.

Had the same thing happen with arron rogers and samkon gado. I'm asuming this is a packer thing

Sounds like a Packers thing. By the sounds of it, they must have somebody open the mail for the players when they get it. Saves the players from opening the letters.
Good job on the success!!
