A sad, sad effect of the global economy crunch
TOP GEAR IS CREDIT CRUNCHED
TOP Gear’s Jeremy Clarkson has been told by BBC bosses to ditch Ł200,000 supercars and review budget models instead.
He and his co-presenters Richard Hammond and James May have been ordered to downsize because of BBC spending cuts.
Producers also want the show to reflect the changing interests of viewers hit by the credit crunch and show “more sedate cheaper, greener” models.
Plans to feature the likes of a Lamborghini, Ferrari and a Porsche have been axed.
It is still funny to see Jeremy behind the wheel of a tiny, "economy" car, but I want the supercars too!
By the way, if you're interested in cars and you haven't seen Top Gear, you NEED to check it out. The funniest car show ever...and a lot of nice cars. It comes on BBC America.

I wouldn't drive any of those high dollar vehicles. They may have speed to them but they are built like crap

How are they built like crap? Have any examples?

they substitute safety and structure for speed and handling. Cars like the Enzo, Pagani Zonda, Bugatti Veyruns, Gallardo Spyder, Caparo T1, and others have body panels that are structurally unsound. The front ends on most could look totalled from a 35 mph crash. In a crash the main shell gets destroyed like an Indy race car. Like the saying goes, they don't build them like they used to
This Ferrari hit a poll at highway speed and sheered in half

I see what you're saying...they're not actually built like crap, they're just not as strong and safety-oriented. They're actually built to extremely high specifications, just with different priorities than most consumer cars. When you're paying hundreds of thousands of dollars for tiny cars, that's pretty much a given.

yeah, that was what I was getting at. They might look like a lot of fun but you're in a deathtrap if something goes wrong
