    Giving up on the ripping

So today I decide to go to this card dealer that I haven't been to in a while. He had a lot of the new football product, so I try some packs of SP Authentic and a few Contenders, wind up getting a Aquib Talib auto and not much else, then watch a few others buy packs, one guy getting an auto, but that 3rd auto remained. So some guy grabs a few more packs and theres 7 left. Like an idiot I say that there should be an auto patch left, so this other guy grabs 4, rips them and comes up with nothing. I was gonna buy the last 3 but before I could, he grabs them and pulls a Flacco auto patch redemption right in front of me. So I wind up grabbing the next box and buying 9 packs and I get a Dewann Trible or something auto and not much else. So I wasted 80 bucks today on garbage.
Heck, I could go to an overpriced restaurant and have a big dinner and a few beers for less than that.
Actually, I could've taken that money and gone on Ebay and heck, bought a Reggie Bush auto or something nice.

I love the urge it gives me, but I feel like I have to stop ripping wax. If I keep it up, rather than having the money for tvs, electronics, cars, vacations, heck even houses, I'll be swimming in a sea of base and junk hits. That's what busting's gotten me basically. Thousands already down the tubes. I can afford it now, but if I get married, have children, well then I have problems.

So I just gotta stick to buying singles now. Let the guys who wanna gamble and throw the cash away pull the hot cards and I'll buy my Saints stuff and once in a while a hot or semi-hot single. Honestly, I'm glad I didn't pull the Flacco as maybe God's trying to teach me a lesson and get me out of the hobby or at least ripping. l

I have a few boxes I already ordered coming in soon, maybe I'll use them as a farewell. I hope I don't get a big hit because I don't wanna get addicted again.

Guys and gals, if you aren't hooked on ripping wax, listen to me and don't do it!

I agree.......i've wasted thousands!!! have had a couple of major hits, but i myself have not opened much of anything in awhile. its just better (like u said) to just go on ebay and STEAL what u like and let someone else take the hit in the wallet.

I've said it before and ill say it again, there is nothing better than having a 100+ dollar pack bust from your lcs. Even though you might not hit anything decent :)

I dont break...I just buy my singles because I'd rather have my favorite players instead of chancing only to get a cruddy hit.

I buy a box once in a while. The last time I bought wax, I got 5 boxes at $100 a box. I spent $500 and got 80% of a base set, a ton of doubles, and most of the "hits" sold for less than it cost to ship them. For that $500, I could have had several cards I actually wanted, and still had money left over. Heck, I could have bought a couple jerseys, or furniture, or who knows what useful stuff.

Its been almost a year since I bought any wax. Don't plan on buying anything else for a good long while. Lesson learned. I stick to singles, and have a better collection for it. I just don't have a lot to trade!

I don't get to many boxes. Maybe one here and there because I sort've just really want to. You know what I mean. But if you don't want to end up with a bunch of worthless cards than just buy them off of ebay or here.

Being 27 and having a condo with my g/f, things have changed. I bought 3 boxes of '08 Contenders last month, lucky to have hit a McFadden, Forte, Mayo, and some others. I would rather go on eBay myself and take no risk and get what I want at a price that is very reasonable.
