How do you guys feel about lowballers?
Just wanting everybodys opinions here. Whether it be selling or trading.
Here's my problem. I hate it when people quote me the most recent prices that things have sold for on ebay and when you decline, they keep coming. Why?
I already told you no and thats it. They assume that i'm going to give in and sell or trade below what I have into it just because you saw it sell for less on ebay!
Lets hear your thoughts.

Can't stand lowballers. Come with a fair offer or don't waste people's time. I don't believe Beckett price is actual market price so offering me $200. for a Fitz SPA RC because it books at $300. won't get it done since they are selling for near book or better on line.
I can understand people buying regional stuff to resell and wanting some things at less then market value but they need to say that upfront. I have no problem cutting a deal with someone on some regional lots as long as they are reasonable.

Doesn't bother me all that much, it's just a negotiation, and it's gotta start somewhere. It's just business, I don't look at it as a personal offense one way or the other. peace.

I don't think it's lowballing if the price offered is at or below ebay selling prices. Sell value is sell value. Another member hit it on the head in another thread. If the name isn't Jordan, Kobe, or Lebron, Beckett doesn't pay attention to the market trend. If I was getting ridiculous offers, I would add them to my ignore list.
However... if you have a set price in mind and say it up front, the potential buyer should just move on. If the negotiation stalls, I just tell the buyer/seller I'm not interested anymore. This is another reason I like ebay. It's as simple as putting in a bid. I don't worry about being accused of lowballing.

don't bother me, I know people are trying to get a deal, but I hate when they quote ebay prices, if they can get a $100 item for $10 good for them, I'm not going to give it that easy. and if they saw it sell on e-bay for cheaper just buy it there.

I don't mind lowballers at all. I mean not lower than eBay anyway. A 100 dollar card that sells for 10 dollars is not a 100 dollar card. It's a 10 dollar card. I think eBay prices are a fair range of what to expect. On these boards it's funny because when people are selling they want more than eBay, but when they are buying they are always looking to spend less than on eBay. I wouldn't expect someone to pay me 20.00 for a card "worth" 50 BV that sells on eBay for 5.00 everyday.
If someone offers too low for me, I just say the minimum I am looking for if it doesn't work, so be it. It's all about negotiating.

That's not always true, I couldn't sell a lot of my cards for less than eBay sales are...they will try and get me to go lower.

my favorite is when someone quotes me HIGH bv on their cards and LOW bv on my cards.(trying to get more of my cards for less of theirs) i dont even respond to clowns like that. my second most favorite is when someone pretends not to know bv and says they dont really know much about book value(plays stupid) but pics of course my MOST expensive cards and then wants to trade 8 dollars worth of cards for 300 dollars worth of cards! getoutta here!

Its part of negotiating. I mostly dislike people who refuse to at least give a price or starting price for negotiations when buying. If you ask for an offer I will ignore you completely. State up front or take a hike.
