Ironic?
TOday I was adding a Kobe RC to my beckett my collection list... i then notice (this is a topps 96-97) that michael jordan is the next number in the set... i thought this was pretty ironic becasue bac in 96 kobe was nothing... whats all your opinions on this?

well, Kobe was in the mold of Jordan, and it was well known of his love and admiration for Jordan.
So the Topps Co. did a pretty darn good job of planning, if that was their intention --- that' a nice card, by the way.
I am in the process of getting 2 of those cards myself

How much are they worth exactly? Kobe is a great player!

nah, no irony- just coincidence
sometimes companies do take a guess that a player will be a superstar, and there were a number of kobe and iverson inserts in verteran only sets. however this generally occurred only in Fleer products; for some reason they seem to make the best far-stretched guesses (they took T-Mac his RC year too). However being Topps, although they did give Kobe a Finest Gold in 96-97, they also did to I believe Lorenzen Wright. They were definitely not comparing Kobe to MJ, and definitely did not purposefully put the two cards together.
