I toss base in the trash all the time. I have about 500,000 cards already in boxes under my bed and in my closet and I just don't have the room to save every base I get. If I see someone building a set then I trade them away but more often than not they go in the trash.

Let me be clear that when I say base I mean base. I don't toss star players, just junk base of Olinemen, LBs, punters, etc.

Man, this is all too sad that people throw away cards like this. I wish I could afford to give you all money to ship them to me. Maybe I should start a thread to see if I can hook people up with others to send them too. I am going to look into it. Thanks y'all. Look for the thread.

I unfortunately can no longer afford to trade outside of the US. Even Canada rates are way too high!

I love base cards so if anyone would rather trade, than trash them, please PM me, and we can go from there. Thanks!

Agree 100% - if I had the money, getting a few thousand cards for $12.95 priority mail large flat rate box seems really cheap, and I'd do it in a heartbeat, if I had the money.

For those that just throw them out - have you thought about donating them to a hospital or the Salvation Army, or some place like that? Police station? Fire station? That would be better than just tossing them IMO, because those places can either sell them (SA) or give them to kids (police, fire, doctors).

One could always deal away their base cards to the setbuilders if they need some of your base to complete their sets (condition counts!). Just go follow the links below and maybe you can get your desired cards and feedback for your base:

Sadly, it's a pretty common practice in these days. In some instances, it's made completing particular base sets a very difficult thing to do (as an example, I am convinced people threw away 2002-03 Fleer Box Score basketball base in large quantities, because there are still four base cards from that set which I cannot find anywhere other than Beckett Marketplace - and I don't want to buy from them since I never got base I ordered a couple of years ago on that site).
