But what was he, 36? Of course he wasn't going to do much, as he was at the end of his career....

That is true but i still didn't see him as being a team superstar.

If you guys followed the bulls back in 90's you would see why pippen and jordan were such a good combo and one complimented the other. Same with Stockon and Malone. Man I could watch those series over and over again!!! Bulls and Jazz!!!
sorry getting back to the point. No Pippen is not over rated IMO

Pippen is not overrated. If anything he's underrated. People don't give him enough credit simply because he was overshadowed by MJ. Pippen was the prototypical "point-forward" and the best one at that (if you count Magic Johnson as a point guard only)

He is currently the record holder for:

Rank #1 Most career assist by a forward (ahead of Havlicek, Larry BIRD, Malone, Garnett)
Rank #1 Most career steals by a forward (ahead of Malone, Barkley, Bird, Dr. J)
Rank #1 Most career playoff steals all positions (ahead of Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson, Stockton)
Rank #4 most career playoff assists all positions ( behind only Stockton, Magic, larry bird)
Only player besides Jordan and Hakeem to have 200 steals and 100 blocks in a season!

8 times on NBA All-defensive 1st team behind only Jordan and Gary Payton.
10 times on NBA All-defensive selection behind only Abdul Jabbar and Tim Duncan.

He carried a mediocre Bulls team deep into the playoffs the year that Jordan was gone.

The fact that we are even having this discussion and people saying he's not even a top 50 player shows exactly how Underrated he is.

I think lots of people who haven't seen him play doesn't realize exactly how GOOD he was.

When he went to Portland he was nothing.

    Not true at all...
His first year there (82 games played) his numbers were pretty amazing!

I would say he is underrated. If anything,he took a step back and let Jordan do what he did.If Pippen was asked to do more,he would've been a mega star

I have not been one of Pip Fan.

But he was not buster guy.

We can think he is overrated or not when Pip was without MJ period.
(1993-94, 1994-95 without MJ Bulls, Rockets and Blazers)

    Here is famous Video

Some guys would be boring about above video but it is really really famous video.

But the point I want to tell, it was without MJ period and Playoff game.

P.S. : Pip couldn't get to reach to Final in that season.

But even if he could reach to final, he would be definitley swept by Crazy Team-Chemistried Rockets.
