Eraser Prepping on '08 UD & '09 Topps ST TTM?
SCF,
I'm sending (sent) a bunch of '08 UD & '09 Topps MLB cards for ST TTM.
You all think there will be a problem with a Sharpie on these base cards (no Chromes or Refractors).
I've been rubbing the surface down with a large eraser and wiping the debris off. Think that'll be enough?
Or is there nothing to worry about when it comes to '08 UD & '09 Topps base cards?Last edited by deeakay; 02-25-2009 at 11:54 PM.

I did an eraser on the ones I used in spring training and got Colin Balester on a 09 Topps and it is an outstanding one.

That's what I like to hear!
When you do the eraser, do you wipe it off clean (like with your sleeve)?
I wiped all of mine clean (like on my pant leg or with my hand) after rubbing thoroughly with the eraser.

Just use a white eraser, and rub down the entire surface of the card, and you should have no problems at all. Good Luck!

And then you wipe the card clean, not leaving any of the eraser junk on the card, right?

Correct

Perfect.
So the "moral" of the story is that rubbing down '08+'09 UD or '09 Topps base cards with an eraser (and then wiping is clear) will render a solid Sharpie signature!
Thanks SCF!

I did nothing to the 09 Topps that I have been sending TTM and unfortunately I have had three smears on bottom cards returned and all three were 09 Topps. I would definately rub them down in the future. I had just been spoiled by Topps being good to go for so long that I did not think about them.
