I hate this buyout bull****....it solely helps only the top teams in the league by getting a decent/good player for basically no money

this could be great for the celtics.....team chemistry may not be an issue.....remember that KG and Marbury did play together back in the day with the T-Wolves......did they have a good relationship then, i was to little at the time to remember???
Yeah, I didn't follow them too much when Starbury was around, but I do remember them being the next deadly duo, like Malone/Stockton....too bad that never happened....

Ive heard that KG and Marbury ended in bad terms as Marbury wanted to be the star on his team.
Marbury said their past history wouldnt be an issue, but he is the last person on this planet I would trust so...
Idk, for the great team like the Celtics, Marbury is too much of a gamble imo.

My 2 cents on the Mebury situation. WARNING! This is a long post!
Idk, signing Mebury just seems like a really bad move by the Celtics, and it’s only going to blow up in their face, seriously.
First off, aside from his selfish personality issues, I just think it’s just way too late in the season to bring in a player like Mebury.
They’ve mentioned that Mebury could help with the scoring off the bench, but you just cannot seriously expect him to make a scoring impact right away. You have to remember, he hasn’t played consistent professional basketball in over a year, he WILL be rusty, and he WILL need a lot of time to develop a consistent scoring rhythm and get his shot back.
Not only that, but he’s gonna be forced to learn and play in a scenario and a system that he’s not accustomed to playing into, and that’s being a role player off the bench, when normally he is used to be the main offensive option on previous teams. I think some people really underestimate how big of an adjustment this is gonna be for him.
On top of that, Doc Rivers is gonna have to figure out and deal with the rotation and chemistry issues of trying to incorporate Mebury into the system. Personally, with only 20+ games left for them in the season, I don’t think that’s enough time to cover all these issues at once.
So now you might just say, well if he doesn’t fit into the system, Doc Rivers would just not play him and go back to his previous rotations, it’s that simple. Wrong! That’s only gonna make things a lot worst. Considering that Mebury is in a contract year, he’s gonna want to get significant playing time with the Celtics, and as we learned from his situation with the Knicks, if he doesn’t get what he wants, bad things happen. All it takes is for him to say one dumb thing to the media to screw everything up.
Speaking of the media, just imagine the huge media circus that Mebury is gonna bring to Boston. Sure, Mebury might try to fit in and not be a distraction. But realistically, don’t be surprised if the rest of the Celtics players get bombarded with questions about, how does it feel to be playing with Mebury? Have you guys had any chemistry issues with Mebury? Is Mebury a good teammate? Etc, instead of asking questions about the actual team, and even though the Celtics players might deny it, this will be a huge distraction for the team.
Now, with all that said, I ask you Celtic fans, do you really want all this “baggage” on your team?

There are goods and bads to adding any player to any team - yes, Marbury is notorious for being a me-first type player, but being on a championship caliber team may change that - remember, he's never been on a true contending team, so that could change alot.

First, I didn't notice Starbury was popular like this..lol
(How many people has participated in here? lol)
wow..very good poiint Jesus.
(I think you have been busier than the past time but you spent much time. =) )
Here is article from RealGM
http://www.realgm.com/src_wiretap_ar...s_for_minimum/#
I think all thoughts about people here are right.
Starbury made mistake not like Professional in NYC.
(Of course, NYK also made mistake like child)
But I don't think Starbury would make mistake more.
Because he agreed Veteran-Minimum.
That means he gave up all his advantages.
I think Starbury would feel something when he saw how Allen Iverson was collapsed in Detroit, this year. IF he is not a no-brain guy.
I have liked The Answer since rookie season but thesedays I have felt uncomfortable
(It's no intention to despise or anything. I just want The Answer would be crazy Again.
I can't forget The Answer scored 210 points in 5 games in his rookie season...But now he is....)
For Class of 96, there is only a few year remain to accomplish champ.
Actually except Kobe, most of remained class of 96 can choose like that mechanism.
I think Starbury was smarter than other class of 96..at least this time..
(except Kobe. he is one of only a few franchise Super Star. so he doesn't need something to do.).
Starbury got much and much money from NYC.
SO he wouldn't need much money.
Of course, more and more money gotten is great.
But in other hands, Starbury is one of athelate who has dreamed Champ.
(IF he was not no-brain guy)
He dreamed he would be Final-MVP in his childhood.
Now he attempted one foot at least.
Like above comment, Starbury would be backup of Sugar-ray not Rondo.
And he would not think like this.

I don't disagree above your guys' precious comments, but we don't know full thought of GM and coach..especially great guys.
Rather, Danny Ainge and Doc Rivers thought each other too much time to spend for Starbury deal.
Remember? Dannay Ainge disagree Starbury would come to Celtics.
(about 1 month ago? maybe..)
Reflecting the past time, Starbury would not be PG.
Of course, he can be type of Toni Parker but here is not San Antonio.
There is already Rondo and House.
Ainge knows, Rivers knows and Marbury knows.
I think all of them(three) met already or at least conference calling each other before that deal. And they would talk about their role.
Frankly speaking, Celtics have needed aggressive player.
Most of Celtics game was great in this season.
Rondo grew up and has grown up. It's the same to Kendrick and Glen.
But sometimes Celtics was lost..why?
Except KG, there is no aggressive player.
Of course, The Truth and Sugar-Ray is great.
But sometimes both of them can't be good.
(Think about Cavs game..)
Because there is no one to substitute their role.
This is not best Choice but better choice.
Celtics can't get good player except veteran-minimum deal because of salary of Big 3.
Of course, we don't know how Celtics would be better after this trade.
But I think this trade would be another fraudlent(for other team fan not for celtics fan) trade. Like Gasol Trade in the last season.
(This deal is not like Gasol deal though...)
And another winner is NYK.
I have not been Starbury-Hater, but after Stabury left such team, their next season record grew up than last season as result.Last edited by nbacard; 02-25-2009 at 06:53 PM.

Well, if Marbury wanted to play this season, he had to accept veterans minimum.
And I truely think Marbury wants all the attention thats getting to him and not really focused enough to win a championship.
He would hate not getting a spotlight behind big 3 and Rondo.
He would have to backup Rondo but will he accept that position?
He said he will, but from the past experiences, we cannot trust this guy.
Whatever it is, I really sorry for the Celtics as their only choice was Marbury this season.
I think they also know if there was another good guard out there, they would definitely pick him over Marbury

The Celtics won't take any BS from starbury, and the Celtics have too many leaders for him to hurt the team at all. I think its a great move, he wants a title and a contract, and if he works hard he'll get both. In the past he has been a solid player, I think its a sound decision.
