Its the Oklahoma City "Practice Jerseys." The official team name, uniforms and colors hadnt been released to the public yet. So, when these cards were made, The Thunder were still wearing Black jerseys with Iron on White lettering. So, its a legit jersey piece. If you ask me, many years down the road, these will be a more collectable item. Especially for those who will collect Oklahoma City Thunder memoribilia. The cards produced early this season, will be the first and last ones produced with the Black/White lettering jerseys.

I have one of those DJ Whites also. And like the OP said, it is just like a iron or painted on number or lettering. The only way you are getting a nice Thunder SPA patch is if you get the Adidas logo pieces I have seen from the tags.
BTW IF the DJ White is FT, I can use it. LMK
