Obama reaches out to Russia over nuclear Iran

Obama reaches out to Russia over nuclear Iran

President Obama has told Russia that the United States might not proceed with a missile defense system in eastern Europe if Iran drops plans for producing nuclear weapons, senior administration officials said Tuesday.

Obama raised the possibility in a letter to Russia seeking help in trying to end Iran's nuclear program, a senior administration official said. Contrary to news reports, it was not a secret letter, the official said.

Obama told Russian President Dmitry Medvedev in the letter that the U.S. missile defense system in Russia's backyard would not be necessary if Iran stopped it own ambitions to build nuclear warheads and long-range ballistic missiles, the officials said.

It kind of reminds me of how Clinton mishandled North Korea.

I think the endstate of this action will be twofold:

    1. Iran will have nukes
    2. Russia will claim victory because of our weakness

    ********

    1. North Korea DID NOT have nukes under Clinton, they did under Bush.... Great job
    2. Iran didn't have nukes, they were close under Bush .. Another great job.

Bush made Iraq, Afgan, Pakistan, Iran, North Korea all more unstable then ever but lets blame clinton and obama lol..

I'm glad to see he's reaching out and not going it alone like Bush in Iraq and he is trying to use the army as a LAST resort and maybe he won't get 30,000 Americans injured or killed going after the guy who tried to kill his daddy while giving Americas number 1 enemy a get out of jail free pass..

Clinton sent Carter over there for goodness sakes. And he came back waiving a flag of peace like a fool. As if everything would be alright because they talked.

Clinton was the one who sent millions of dollars of aid, food and oil. And what did North Korea use this money for? If you guessed to build uranium bombs you get a gold star.

No need for anybody to be insulting about it.

Just read this article: Obama downplays letter to Russia regarding nuclear Iran

President Obama said Tuesday that reports of a U.S. offer to kill a proposed missile defense system in exchange for Russian assistance in preventing Iran's acquisition of nuclear weapons were inaccurate...

..."What I said in the letter was that, obviously, to the extent that we are lessening Iran's commitment to nuclear weapons, then that reduces the pressure for — or the need for — a missile defense system," Obama said.

I don't really see what the difference in saying we would kill the program and we wouldn't need the program is...just politik-speak to try to keep people on both sides happy.

And you have proof they used the Clinton money and were building a bomb under his watch where? If they were building a bomb and Iran was building a bomb why did we go into Iraq

Bush did such an admirable job to devalue U.S.-Russia relations. I'm glad Obama is doing the opposite and reaching out to Russia.

Those of you who are worried about Iran. Who do you think is Iran's biggest supplier of weapons and technology?
