    New to SCF

    Hello all.

    I am yet another lifetime collector who has recently renewed his interest in the passion of his youth. I blame my collecting habit on my father who got me interested by buying me packs at a local drug store nearly three decades ago. I took several 'breaks' during college and graduate school (boxes here and there) and in the past year have really started to get back into it (isn't disposable income great?).

    My focus is solely on baseball and hockey. With baseball, I am primarily a set collector (several new sets each year and then filling in older nostalgic sets as I find deals on unopened boxes). I dabble in prospecting and have some very small player collections (Nate McClouth, Tom Brookens, and thinking of starting one of Carlton Fisk). For hockey, while my first instinct is still to collate sets (currently working on a BGS 9.5 set of 1990-91 OPC Premier), I have been pleasantly surprised with how much I've enjoyed collecting Justin Abdelkader rookie cards, parallels, and inserts.

    I've recently discovered that the internet can fill the need for collector interaction left by living in an area with very limited resources (1 card shop within 3 hr drive). I look forward to (hopefully) becoming an active member and trader.

    First of of thanks for admitting that your Dad got ya addicted to cards LOL. Other than that you have found a forum that is active in both baseball and hockey.
