How many kids do you know can afford to drop 5-10 bucks on a decent pack, especially when all there money goes to Video Games anyway. Honestly I think the insert destroyed card collecting for kids.

I collected when I was 6-12 or so and then didn't pick it back up until I was 25...I can tell you why for me and I think it applies to a lot of others too. Once you reach middle/high school, you get into girls, you get your license, you get into sports/extracurriculars...you basically just get a lot of other things going on and collecting cards starts to seem a bit childish and you're "too cool" for it. But once you get out of high school or college and start a family, things slow down, you're not going out as much, you (usually) have more funds, and you look for something to occupy your time...it was a simple as that for me. I got too busy for it for a while, but then when things slowed back down, I got back into it.

I can remember collecting when I was 13 and packs of Upper Deck were $1. I was mowing lawns and making $15 a lawn, so I could get a pack or 2 no problem. These days, you could get 1 pack of cards for that price. Times have changed, only when you can start working at age 16 is when you can afford to get cards.

Im 13 and I collect as much as I can and still have time for school, girls, etc, collecting cards has helped me stay out of trouble and keep me from buying drugs and things like that, that a lot of kids I know do. I have gotten one of my other friends into the hobby and he loves it as much as I do. I think it helps if your best friend collects. The only downside is that my parents don't help with my collection so everything I have I bought and worked for myself. Luckily I'm not one of those kids with just 50 cards or whatever, sorry for the long read.
