Decided to go after the base set of this when I first saw the sell sheet. Case was waiting for me when I got home from a long day of work. Busted the first two tonight...

I am very happy with my decision to go after this set, no matter how difficult it becomes to put together. In my opinion, these cards look amazing. I'm half tempted to put together the Chrome set, but I don't have the patience for that.

Haven't exactly decided how many boxes from the case I'm going to bust, but I will only collect the base set (none of the super short print stuff either - though I've yet to pull one of those) and all the inserts and extras will be for trade - mostly for the SPs I'll need to complete my set.

The short prints are the grey backs #426-500 as far as I know.

From what I am seeing around the web, SSPs have opposite backs from the normal version. I have only seen 2 so far - Thom Glavine variation and Hanley Ramirez Red Sox All-Star variation.

I'm with you. I think these are great looking baseball cards. I will def. try my patience and put this set together. I would like to do the chrome, but that seems like it might be above my head. I guess I could trade a little here and a little there and see what happens.

Overall, I really like the style of cards. I knew this would be a tough set when I started and you bust this one for the base, not the hits (though it still hurts when you get shorted). The gum still tastes like ****.

I'll post all the inserts in a few. I'm going to post my needs list in the set collecting area.
