    Hypocrisy at it's finest

    http://www.cnsnews.com/public/checker.aspx?rsrcID=44485

The dems want a truth commission to investigate the actions of the last 8 years especially since the justice dep. memos were releases showing that Bush was given the Ok to suspend the constitution.

The Republicans are against any investigation, this is the same party that spent 3 years and millions of dollars investigating Bill Clinton and all they came up with was he lied under oath. Not to mention making sure nothing got done in Washington over that time.

We are talking about raping the constitution, the torture of human beings and taking away peoples rights and they are refusing to look into it.

It's starting to look like if Nixon was president the last eight years he would have served his full term, watergate would have gotten swept under the rug.

I wasn't old enough to remember the Clinton investigations very well, but what good will it do for this country to spend our time and money on this? I'm sure the Patriot Act could be stretched to cover a lot of the suspending of the Constitution. I don't agree with it. But how does attacking and interrogating and investigating the previous administration help the economy, international relations, or alternative energy research?

I see your point, although I do think the two situations are at least a little different. My view of it: there were repeated talks about impeaching Bush and investigating some of his actions while he was in office...if there was anything to it, it would have already happened. Why would they wait until he is out of office instead of going ahead with impeachment hearings? I don't believe there's anything to it (that can stick anyway) and, like Daniel said, we have more important things to focus on right now.

get over it. Our Constitution does nto apply to animals from other counties who rape and torture and kill innocent people. There are too many bleeding hearts in this country, no wonder were doomed.

I guess you think is fine for Americans to get totured overseas then. If we do not take the high road, we allow others to more of the same.

my only question regarding any form of torture... if your brother was being held captive and you knew you could torture the terrorist and find your brother or do nothing and they would kill him... which would you choose?

They killed the journalist(I forget his name) in Pakistan. Now the extremist can say we do it also, so it is fine.

If torture is used at all, it must be in an extreme situation(Example:nuclear bomb going off in a U.S. city) with a Presidential order only. After it is done, it should made public.

you know nothing is going to be made public. As waterboarding was going on and that was not made public till years after the fact. Then all the documentation ended up shredded correct?

p.s. It a fine line and I would hate to be in the position to ever decide on a issue like this.
