    1996 NBA Hoops Series 1

I have never collected older cards, but when I saw some dust covered sealed boxes of this 96-97 NBA hoops, it made me wonder. So, I asked the shopowner, and he said he would sell it for 59 cents a pack. Extremely cheap, and Kobe's RC year. My question revolves around possible insert cards. Looking through BEckett, there is a Kobe Bryant "Grant's All Rookies" that books for $160. Is this card in series 1? I can buy 4 boxes of this stuff, for less than $50. Is it worth the chase? Or shuld I leave it alone?

Yeah, the Kobe " "Grant's All Rookies" is VERY RARE RC card of Kobe, and you could easily sell it for $120-$130 during the playoffs, if you can find it. For $50, I say why not, at the very least you'll complete a base set the features vintage 90's players like Jordan, Pippen, Barkley, Ewing, etc. So why not.

If you don't know how the card looks like, here's a pic, it looks a lot better in person: http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e259/jeebus_86/Card%20Collection/Kobe%20PC/RCs/DSC02383.jpg

You know what, I double checked, and these cards were actually inserted in the Series 2 box.

    Here are the set notes:

Randomly inserted in all series two packs at a rate of one in 360, this 11-card set features the SkyView technology as Grant Hill selects his picks for the best rookies from the 1996-97 class. Despite no serial numbering, the stated print run for the set was 996 of each card.

Well, I bought two packs, just to get a feel for what these cards were like. They were all stuck together. (Not sticky...just pressed) So, I just slightly bent them and they all seperated. They are pretty plain looking cards, but I can't complain.

Thanks for the heads up on those cards being in Series 2. Im glad i didnt buy them now. I left before your response. But, I feel like i did pretty good with these 2 packs. Theyre old...but I pulled a "Hoops Head to Head" Jordan/Pippen card that is #'d HH2. Pretty cool insert. Not bad for $1.70

Not to bad. Yeah, back when I was kid, pulling any Jordan card from a pack felt like pulling his auto now. LOL! Man, have times changed...

Heck, I'd buy a box of it even thought the Grants All Rookies aren't in there - there are a few nice subsets still! Hoops Head to Head (which is what you pulled the MJ/Pippen of), Hoops HIPnotized, Hoops Rookie Headliners and Hoops Superfeats are all in there, and each set not counting HIPnotized has at least one card with a minimum value of $15 or so. So, if you can get a whole box for $12.50, I'd grab it!
