    Anyone in the Air Force?

My son is 17 and a Jr. in high school. He recently shared his desire to join the Air Force. His grades for the 1st 2 years in high school were average but this year he is looking at ending with a 3.5. His goal next year is a 3.8 or better. He was thinking that he could join and if he liked it possibly transfer the the Air Force academy...is this possible?

Not sure if I understand the question. Do you mean enroll in another college and enlist at the same time? And then transfer to the Academy?

Well most of the time if you are enlisted you go through other programs and not the Academy.

I would say if he applies to the Academy and gets in to jump on it since it is very difficult. But the other option is to enlist and go to school during your enlistment and then get your commision.

They have a program for enliosted people but it very limited. Here is the link to the AFA page. He can also get into the Academy with the help of a Congressman. You can call your local Congress representative and they can guide you through the steps. Another useful website is www.about.military.com or something on that line. Tell him to pick a job that he really wants to do because he is going to be coming out as an officer nad someof their jobs sucks. He can be a pilot, navigator, battle manager. Those are like the coolest jobs. Also there is a recruiter for officer candidates only.

Everything they offer get it in writing. If they can give it to you in writing that measn it is a lie.

Mike Silvia (The Site owner) was an Air Force Officer and could possibly help you. Remember that the recruiters are there to meet quotas and don't allow an impulse recruitment.
