agree..but then again,
the Raiders did have over 150+ yards in penalties.
it's one game....hopefully, the Raiders will get the win next week over the Bengals.
If we lose, that's the end of our season.
It's one thing to lose to a play-off caliber team at their stadium.... it's another thing to lose to the Bengals - at home or away

i hope the 49ers can stop the rams this week, the way they will have to do it is by stuffing marshall faulk like the giants did last week and frustrate martz so he doesn't let faulk run more.

yea, I agree!
Giants had a tremendous game plan. But, they have better pass rushers than the Niners do, unfortunately.
If we cannot put pressure on Bulger, he will destroy our inept secondary, esp. poor Mike Rumph - who actually seems to be a little better this year.
I thought the plan was to turn Rumph into a safety, much like what the Niners did for Ronnie Lott. Rumph is good...but not as a CB, b/c he has trouble turning that hip fast; thus, he's vulnerable to double moves. Which is how he got killed last year.

bieing a person whom bleeds black and silver....yes rice is the best wr to play the game(probably the best all around athlete to play in sports not excempting *air jordan* as we all know fb is the REAL sport....can't wait to watch them nov. 25th at kc(this is my 8th year in a row)....maybe i'll post a few pics. of the game and auto session! by the way those "other" wr's are only as good as thier QB...so that would all depend on manning?haha...garcia?ummmm....culpepper?who knows.........joe

I think Rice would be even greater had he been with Elway or Marino, QBs who could throw deep
But, I wouldn't trade anything in the world for a Montana-to-Rice pass
and a Young-to-Rice pass.
Those were tremendous combinations!!!

Rams 27, 49ers 24, OT
boy, I sure hope NFL soon changes the rule, so both teams at least have a chance to touch the ball once in OT before "sudden death".
I don't see why, in overtime, each team can't be given ONE opportunity to score a TD and an extra point. After that one possession (assuming both teams score a TD and convert an extra point), the next score wins.
It's been proven that in OT, the team who gets the ball first wins 65% of the time. Tagliabue was going to address this situation this past summer....but nothing happened.
Anyways...49ers played the Rams pretty well, with Jeff Garcia driving the 49ers down the field, in Joe Montana-like fashion, on the last drive of the game with just 3 minutes left, that resulted in a TD pass to Terrell Owens for a TD.
Earlier in this drive, Garcia threw up a lame duck pass, and a Rams CB dropped it....Garcia and the 49ers drove the length of the field for the final score to tie it in regular session.
This game was chocked full of 49ers and Rams errors.
Owens missed 2 49ers possession due to a slight concussion after being blasted by Aeneas Williams
Garcia missed a 49ers possession due to a concussion that turned out to not be a concussion...not sure I understood that, but the 49ers doctor cleared both to play.
Niners did a great job corraling Faulk, but Bulger did a great job, going 15-17 in the second half.....looks like Bulger will be keeping the QB starting position, based on Martz's comment after the game.
I was very disappointed in our performance, but given the fact that the Rams destroyed us the last 3 years (we are 1-7 against them)....today's game was not too bad. A loss is a loss, however.
Next game: at home vs Cleveland Browns, who are 0-2, after giving up 295 rushing yards to Jamal Lewis of the Ravens!!!!!

Raiders 23, Bengals 20
boy, this game sure sucked, as the Bengals pretty had good control of this game.
After getting off to a great 10-0 start, the Raiders went totally passive. Or perhaps, they're just old and slow, esp. Rich Gannon, who couldn't hit the ocean with a pass, as he overthrew the open receivers.
Bengals did a great job, and almost pulled out a victory. As a matter of fact, with the score 13--13 with about 4 minutes left, Kitna and the Bengals were on the Raiders side of the field when he threw a pass that Buchanon jumped into the receiver's route, intercepted it, and returned it 83 yards for a TD.
One would think the Bengals would quit; being down 20-13 with only 3+ minutes left....but Kitna drove them the length of the field for a TD.
But, Gannon came back and drove them the length of the field, helped by a pass interference call by a CB on Jerry Rice, and Janikowski kicked a GW field goal.
This was an UGLY UGLY win.....and the passing game was just in shambles!
Rice 4 catches for 40 yards.... I think Gannon had something like 175 passing yards total.
bad game....but we won, nevertheless!
