Former Pistons coach Chuck Daly diagnosed with cancer

AUBURN HILLS, Mich. (AP)—Former Detroit Pistons coach Chuck Daly has been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.

The team says Friday that Daly “is being treated for the cancer and his family is requesting privacy.”

Daly coached the Pistons to NBA championships in 1989 and 1990. He also was the coach of the 1992 gold medal-winning US Olympic squad dubbed the “Dream Team.” He was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1994.

Man, that is really too bad. I hope they caught it early enough...this is a fairly rare form of cancer, and if I remember correctly, the cure rate of it is very low.

Oh no...that's horrible...man...well, hope he has a pain-free last few months, or maybe something happens with a medical breakthrough of some sort, and they can extend his life.

Yeah he will be dead within 6 months. Even if they caught it early the cure rate is low.

Terrible news. I hope medication can prolong his life so he can accomplish what he hasn't already.

Well, if there is some hope, Patrick Swayze was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in January of 2008. Though I'm pretty sure he isn't in stage 4 like Daly is and the fact he is about 20 years younger than Daly may be helping his cause. Not to mention he is rather wealthy so he may be getting better treatments than most would be
