With two days off coming up for the Islanders after completing a 2-1-1 road trip with a 4-2 victory this afternoon in Chicago, I know I'll be writing about defenseman Mark Streit in more detail for Newsday in the next couple days. But I wanted to note that, with three goals and an assist in his past two games, Streit reached 51 points for the season.

That surpasses last season's team-high of 49 points by Mike Comrie when the Islanders were the NHL's only team without a 50-point scorer. Streit now stands just 11 points short of his career-high total of 62 points achieved last season with Montreal, which was a playoff team. He has 12 games left this season with the last-place Isles to top that total, but the great thing is that Streit also has developed his all-around game.
