how do you handle negative feedback?

uggh its not really hocky related but i had no where else to go to vent. i sold an ipod shuffle on ebay and receieved my first negative feedback after over 300 positives. i am steaming mad. the comments were "took 4 days to ship" okay is this outrageous? and "wasn't new as described" the item was brand new i only opened the box to make sure all the parts were in there.

this was their first purchase so maybe they dont know how things work? but my good reputation of over 300 items (mostly cards) and my shipping and time ratings are all 5 stars or 4 and 3/4s. is being ruined by a person with 1 transaction. i have already offered money back and pay for their return shipping as i do on everything. i just wish they had contacted me.

i don't even know of the feedback responses work, i know they changed soe things, have any of you had a similar problem?

Simply put, that's a load of garbage. It's unfortunate that you, a solid eBayer with a longstanding reputation, will have your status ruined by some noob that clearly has a limited capacity for reason.

Also, I'm moving this out of the Hockey Card section to a more appropriate venting area.

it happens man.... i shipped a guy shoes twice and both times they got rejected.... once for wrong address once he refused them.... left me a neg... .what else am i supposed to do... i sent all the receipts in to ebay and everything... unless you are a powerseller that makes a lot of revenue for them good luck in getting anything done.... its really unfortunate Ebay is really the only place to go to sell for card auctions.

I got more negs for some stuff that i purchased, paid for, recieved and put them in my shop.... and i got a non paying bidder message and a neg for them... i paid by check and ebay didnt care about my cancelled check images...

just let it go, the old saying "You can't please everyone" falls under every seller. One knock or a couple negatives aren't going to do much except take away your 100%. Other than that, it won't really deter people away from bidding, feedback is just for the seller to be happy about unless there are plenty of negatives to a persons account. Its just like post count on here, something the person who has it can be proud of but really doesn't have much else to it or read into what the person behind it is like as an Ebay member

Did it really take 4 days to ship out after the person paid for the item? The other thing is if you opened up the box, next time you have to state that its "like new"

That's outrageous. 4 days shipping is terrific. What a jerk.

    Wolf,
As all good ebayers find out it almost impossible to keep feedback on Ebay 100 percent perfect over time. Just roll with the punch and don't loose any sleep over it. As it going to get ya sooner or later. Your just lucky it took this long. Sorry to hear about it just don't toss and turn over it when you did it correctly. What can ya do not much as your not the big dawg (powerseller) as tutall said.
