Need your help!
Hey I just found a National League baseball in my basement and I want to send it to someone who will definitely sign it. The question is who? Who do you guys think is the best person I could send it to. I could pay up to $20 for a fee to the player but anything over it...... I can't.
Thanks so much.

You all sited AL players so far? Why not try a former star like Sparky Anderson who was a manager for the Big Red Machine and an HOF member who does not charge. Duke Snider is another HOF member who signs well and would most likely do, if you threw like $10 along with it. There are tons of guys that sign well. Check out the success section and pick one that you would love to have sign the ball and give it a shot. The one reason that I did suggest an older player is that the NL and AL now both use one MLB baseball. It would seem odd for me to have it signed by a player who never used a league specific baseball. There are current guys like Trevor Hoffman that have been around long enough to have played with NL balls. Best of wishes and tell us how it works out!

The better question is: "whose autograph would you like to have on a ball?"
Really, I never understand these types of questions. Aren't you building a collection based on whose autographs you actually want to have? If you're looking for inspiration, try the success threads. That will show you who other collectors have been receiving TTM. Ask yourself these kinds of questions instead:
Are you trying to collect HOF autos? In that case, Snider, Doerr and Kell are the easiest choices for a ball. They're the cheapest and most reliable. If you're up to spending a few bucks, try sending to Gossage ($10), Fingers ($15) or Carlton ($25). You'll get them back and they all have gorgeous sigs.
Are you wanting to collect Award winners or other notable players? ROY? CY? MVPs? There are a ton of guys who sign for free or for cheap. Frank Viola ($5), Jim Lonborg, Al Rosen, John Matlack, Mark Fidrych, Ron Kittle, Bob Turley, Vern Law, Dick Groat, Phil Cavarretta, Marty Marion, and Bobby Shantz are all great.
Do you have a favorite team or player? Why not try a little research and see who signs from your favorite squad? Or, how about a team ball with players from different eras on it?
Your collection is a reflection on you as a collector. I have appreciated the feedback I've received from a guy like Andy Sonnanstine so much that I've sent to him dozens upon dozens of items to be signed and shared. I have 25 or more autos from him already. He's never going to be in the HOF, but he's far and away the most interesting player in the game to me, so I enjoy collecting him.
I'm trying to gather a signature from every living Brooklyn Dodger. I'm almost there (darn you Koufax!!!) and have loved putting that collection together. I also love adding signatures from obscure players. Guys like Cliff Dapper, who was the only player to ever be traded for an announcer, or like Mike Palagyi (just look his career up. It's amazing). I treasure those items as much, if not more, than my HOFers. I feel like my collection reflects the love I have for baseball and great athletes in general as well as my real passion, the rich history of the game of baseball.
Collect who and what you like and you'll never be disappointed.

Wow! This must have been very recently as I have gotten back a really nice 8x10 of him just a few weeks ago! I agree with Rockiesfan33, it is a question of who you want to sign it. Be sure to check the threads and see who is signing. I am sorry to have mislead with Sparky, if he has stopped signing.

He's more or less finished now. It's possible to get him still, but unlikely. His health has deteriorated and he signs very sporadically.
