I think it is...the drug wars down there have become unbelievably bad and there has been a lot of spillover into the US. In the Mexican border towns, they're having something like 2,000-3,000 muders per month. And I read a story the other day about two Texas teenagers who were hired by one of the cartels to be hitmen on the US side...it's getting really, really ugly down there and the Mexican government/police aren't succeeding at stopping it.

True, it is worthy of attention, but this really shouldn't be a top priority. I didn't think it was having such a profound effect on the States.

True, I wouldn't rank it up there with the economy...but for the people in those areas, it's a very serious problem. I haven't followed it for long, but from what I've read it seems like things have bee escalating in the past few weeks and months...maybe it's getting to a point that it can no longer be ignored.

2000-3000 per month is extremely high...was just reading an article about it being up to 15 drug per murders per day at the start of this year, or 450 per month, and have seen reports of anywhere between 5300-6500 murders in mexico for last year, and another said 1000 deaths so far this year...which is still insane, because philadelphia has about 400 per year
I don't know what the solution is...the reason there are so many murders is because it's such a lucrative business. The thing is even if you completely wipe out this cartel, there will be another to take over, because of the incredible profits. It's been 20 years since Pablo Escobar made Forbes list as the 7th richest man in the world, and just this year we had another cartel leader make the list. Drugs represent anywhere from 2-10% of Mexico's GDP (I haven't seen
What's also crazy is that an estimated 90% of the guns recovered in Mexico come from US dealers...no, it's not oil for food, it's guns for drugs

That happened in my city
And yes, it is getting out of hand down here. For those that question this move by Obama, you guys just don't know what's going on down here by the border.
