Anyone Bust any 2008-2009 Topps Chrome BK?
I busted a case of 2008 Topps Chrome football, and it was certainly worth my while.
Has anyone dealt with 2008-2009 Topps Chrome basketball? Opinions?
It seems to be going for a premium on eBay. Is it short print?I'm always looking to trade cards for original Nintendo (NES) games. Always looking for 86-87 Fleer basketball - even commons - the more, the better :) Also, when sending cards out, please make certain the cards are well-protected and well-packaged.

I busted a case of 08-09 topps chrome basketball - as I do annually. This year the rookie class is much better than previous years and could be the best since 03-04.
I was a little disappointed in the quality of the cards - a great number of my cards were badly off-center. On top of this the collation was equally disappointing - not a single rookie refractor in the entire case! As for the autos I only rec'd 1 of the top 11 draft picks and still wait for one of the redemption autos...
I also got one Youthquake auto and two red refractor #/5...my Youthquake was Gallinari and the Red Refractors were Gilbert Arenas and Desmond Mason...I also got a about 8 gold refractors (#/50) which make great PC but resale is less than you might imagine even for stars...
If I had to do it all over again I would have put the sealed case in storage next to my case of 03-04 Ultra...in my opinion the value in this product will be found in sealed wax 10-15 years from now....

Thank you for taking the time to tell me about your experience. This will be our last chance to enjoy some Topps and/or Upper Deck before Panini takes over for the next few years. I'd like a case of something, but am on the wall as to what to get. I LOVED the 2008 Topps Chrome FB, and am sad to hear the BK doesn't appear to be as good. I'll have to sit and think about which Topps or UD case to purchase. I'm looking for something mid-range, like Topps Chrome.

Just remember, I have only my own opinion to share...others may say something completely different (like the guy who's case had all the RC refractors!)...if you are looking to get some kind of "last issue" type item you may be able to get much more bang for the buck buying a completed set...but, then again, we all love busting packs now don't we?
As far as UD and Topps making their last basketball products this year I am far more skeptical...I don't have any inside information but I expect at minimum Upper Deck to release at least a couple of Basketball products next year, regardless of Pannini's NBA contract. It may be something of a prospects/retired style or something along those lines. Just look at baseball and all the non-MLB licensed products, Prime Cuts for example is un-licensed and full of crazy hits. I would find it hard to believe that Topps and Upper Deck will just sit back and wait out the next couple of years...as far as annual staples like Topps and Bowman Chrome, Upper Deck, MVP, etc...they will be shelved for the time being. I expect UD to come strong on the high end with all of their exclusive players...perhaps just not in their NBA uniforms...

According to DA Card world there is a "Very limited production run this year!", but who knows what "limited" means for a product like Topps Chrome.
It is a really fun product to break, but like VintageHeros stated there is not much value in the cards right now. If you are going to invest in a case the best thing would be to follow VintageHeros advice and store it, and you may double your money in 3 years or so.
If you are strictly looking to bust, I would invest on lose boxes on a reputable site like DA Cardworld. Whenever I buy a case (and open it), I am almost always disappointed. Getting various products which are pulled from fresh cases is a fun experience. Even if the boxes are pulled from fresh cases there is a risk you won't get a case hit, but from my experience this risk far outweighs the disappointment you will receive from a sealed case.

I busted close to a case worth of boxes from 3 different cases. I got some great boxes, and some BAD boxes. I didnt get any great Rookie AUTOs but I got this 1/1! Some boxes had a ton of good RCs and refractors, while some had just horrible 2nd round draft picks. I like all the parallel cards though. Worth it to me just because I really like topps chrome! Good hobby value.

Yeah, I forgot to mention, Topps Chrome (like many other products) is more limited than in years past. It was right before Christmas when the shops had to get their orders in and we all remember how dismal the economy was getting back then (and still is now!)...not as many cases were ordered and subsequently Topps didn't produce as much product as in years past. How much less product is unknown (except by Topps) but it could be quite significant if Topps' was serious about staying in the black financially...
If you ever get the Blowoutcards pre sale emails you will see a much greater frequency of the factory/manufacturer being "sold out" of products (at least that's their report). I think all the companies across the board have scaled back dramatically this year.
