Go for it Pete!! I think we all should message him. I think he`s gonna have them for a good long time for that price though lol. Before I had to quit buying cards I pretty much gave up on the preview cards. Same thing was happening with the Jeff Burton previews and then even Regan Smith! For the same price as I`d have had to put into a preview card I could get an auto or race used card, sometimes 2 or 3 of them!

I went with the auto/race used cards lol. People like that ruin it for people who are driver collectors. Bad part is they want them to resell NOT collect!! I see alot of preview cards rotting away in peoples stores because they try and make a mint off them. Which in my opinion sucks big rocks!! Oh well, what can you do. Bad part is those sellers, even after holding those cards for years, still won`t drop the price to a reasonable one so a fella can add a few to their collection. Go figure.

Wow. I've never seen someone buy all 5 previews and then try to sell them as a set. I feel bad for Tony collectors. There's no chance to get one. Why would you put those on for that much.. no one will buy them.

Pete, you're always wanting to send someone a message. hahaha :)

Well, I messaged him! Wasn't pretty either. Amazingly, I kept it clean:

I'm just curious on why the incredibly high markup for these cards?!?! You paid a combined $236.99 (including shipping) for these cards when Press Pass released them and you are asking for almost 3 times that amount. It really upsets me because it's people like you who ruin the hobby for the rest of us TRUE collectors! I really hope you are stuck with these for the rest of your life. And with that price, you are sure to be! Enjoy them, because you are the only one who will!

It's one of the reasons I don't do previews...and it's not because I do Jr. The idea of previews has passed with the low numbered parallels as inserts in sets...cards numbered to 25, 50, 99, etc. are fine enough for me.

I've always been accused of following the beat of a different drummer. I've just haven't found that drummer yet.

Im just not sure why this has become a big deal.. Not to start an argument or anything but if he feels he can get that for a lot of cards to each his own. Would i want to pay it? No.... but someone paid 60 bucks for this

I mean... I am sure there is someone out there that is a Tony nut and would like to have all 5 of those cards... It is like this guy who has a ton of cards i need for my AJ Guyton collection but he is selling them for WAY over value. I have made him several offers though that are still way over the value juts because i need them for my set.

Again, I am not trying to start an argument and i rarely post in this forum although i do read almost every thread. Just trying to figure out why people, not just on this topic, but in general get offended by overpriced auctions

idk-it offends me and most on here because its clearly not a true collector-its someone trying to profit from it-that and its unfair and unjust to the other stewart collectors I think. We are all true collectors, and hes not.

It really has nothing to do with the overpriced auction and everything to do with one random person snatching all five of those cards with the sole intention of flipping them a few weeks later for [what he thought would be] a huge profit. If I was wanting a single card on ebay and was outbid by someone who I knew could care less about the card itself, but would just be relisting that same card a few weeks later with the intention of making a profit on it, it would be no different.

I have a local (wouldn't really call him a friend-hosed me a few times) who buys by the CASE and sells all of it on ebay. He only does racing and doesn't collect anything. He bought 4 cases of Element alone! The owner had to put aside a couple boxes for me without him knowing. I don't have a problem with him so much because he is, in effect, redistributing the cards to the people. I don't know, I guess I just have a problem with what this guy is doing mainly because he is trying to control a portion of the market, in my eyes anyway. If he can get someone to buy them, more power to him, but he's still pond scum in my eyes. I just don't have as much respect for people like that. It's just how I feel about collecting. Collect because you have a desire for it, not because you want to jerk people around and force them to pay an exorbiant amount for that card.

makes perfect sense... i guess i have a little different view because i kind of do the same thing. If i can make a steal on ebay during the offseason and double my money during the season i do... just gives me more money to spend on the things i like. But your explanations make sense... Thanks
