Flyers sign F van Riemsdyk
The Philadelphia Flyers have inked forward James van Riemsdyk to a multi-year entry-level contract, the club announced Wednesday, beginning with the 2009-10 season.
The second overall pick of the 2007 NHL Draft, van Riemsdyk also signed an amateur tryout for the remainder of the current season and has been assigned to the AHL's Phantoms.
The 19-year-old recorded 17 goals and 40 points in 36 games for the University of New Hampshire this past season. He also represented Team USA in the 2009 World Junior Championship tournament and posted four goals and 10 points.
