thomas shows why he's a potential vezina candidate

Philadelphia -- Boston goaltender Tim Thomas is sometimes forgotten when fans and pundits talk about the Bruins' solid defense. In the second half of the season he's been the glue keeping his team together and his 45-save performance spoke for itself as they beat the Flyers 4-3.

Both teams started out the game playing pretty tentatively. The Flyers got on the board first when Claude Giroux knocked in a rebound off an Aaron Asham shot at the 4:56 mark. Danny Briere did setup the play and he got a helper for his trouble.

Shortly after that Flyers forward Daniel Carcillo and Boston’s Steve Montador went at it with the edge going to the Philly tough guy.

Boston forward Michael Ryder had been giving the Flyers problems all period and he made a nice cross-ice pass to Milan Lucic who buried it to make it a 1-1 game at 10:39 of the first period.

Lucic's scoring touch in the first really put the Flyers in a hole that they couldn't crawl out of. Thomas looked strong as always. Flyers vs. Bruins would be an interesting playoff match if it were to happen.
