Amazing Weekend!
So Cody had his finals this weekend. His team placed 5th over all and they made it into the finals against the 2nd place team. The poor kid studied all the coaches plays and couldn't sleep. I had to re-assure him that matter win or loose we would be proud. My only advice for the little D-Man was to play 125% out there each shift.
So come game time tying up his skates you can hear a pin drop in the dressing room. The kids were so nervous. Usually the 9 year olds are whooping it up and having fun. You could tell this meant a lot to them.
Anyways the kids are announced 1 by 1 with onto the ice (just like the NHL) for the first time ever. We even had to stand for the anthem. The kids thought it was the coolest thing ever.
First period starts and the Wranglers (Our Team) jumps out to a 2-0 lead.
Second period the eagles tie the game up. So now we are all nervous.
Third period teams trade chances and crossbars. Then a breakaway for us gets us the 3-2 lead with 25 seconds left!!!
The crowd counts down and then it looks like a bomb went off as helmets and gloves were everywhere on the ice!! The kids won the championship and I couldn't be more proud!! :)
To make the night even sweeter the team all went out to a resteraunt and lo and behold Ron Ellis is there! He signed cards etc for the kids for nearly an hour. I got to talk to him and told him what he did for the kids was real classy!
He is a great guy and that was icing on the cake to a great weekend! :)

Awesome and glad to see Ron Ellis taking the time to sign auto's for a hour. As that goes way beyond the normal expectations of anyone to just sign and chat. A nice weekend to say the least on two fronts.
