Hi there SFC community
My name is Kevin. I have been collecting in some capacity or other for 35+ years. I first bought some baseball cards at the corner store at like 7, followed by some football at the flea market, flipping cards with friends at like 10, riding my bike to the corner store and getting a Reggie bar and a pack of 78 or 79 topps, rubber bands and shoe boxes, and so...I have an interest in older cards, pre 90's OPC hockey, All pre 90's football, and pre 75 baseball. I have most all Topps, Fleer, Donruss, baseball sets from 75 through the very early 90's.
I don't chase inserts or whatever on the new stuff ($$$) but I do still like to get one of a player or team I collect. I am more of an old school collector and I like to build sets.
My current set building is 1984-85 OPC hockey. I need about 100 ( yes I need Yzerman too).
I am also building a 2008-09 UD Collectors Choice Hockey with my youngest son (6 yrs old). He collects all Penguins, Pirates, and Steelers. Little Pittsburgher! We go to Pirates games a lot and Pens games sometimes. I haven't taken him to a Steelers game yet. Too small.
We collect some autographs too. I like hockey pucks and baseballs. We are thinking about sending out player cards in the mail for autos. I have heard a lot about this and it sounds like fun.
I have tons of oddball stuff from auctions and lots that I want to trade, sell, list on eBay, whatever.
I collect Yankees Penguins and Steelers in Uniform. Also Pirates for my son and Jets for my dad.
I enjoy searching the threads and hope to work on trading with some folks here soon.
Thank you for reading this thread.

Hey Kevin,
Welcome to SCF! Glad you decided to join this great board. You'll love this site when you get to trading and filling all of those set needs. That was a great introduction, but saddly, I'm still in the shoe box stage myself, haha. Everyone loves those old 90's cards, saddly they don't make them like they used to. The good old days of just trying to get a set together of base. Your absolutely right about the high dollar stuff though, some of it is just too much and kills the hobby. Not only will this help your hockey needs, but there is a great place for autograph collectors as well. I have a few myself but saddly no Pittsburgh stuff. But you could try sending base cards TTM to your pittsburgh teams. Its a great way to get an auto for about under a dollar shipping. Its great to see you getting your son into collecting as well. It has to be an amazing feeling to be able to share the same collecting interests with your son. As long as he stays a pittsburgh fan i'm guessing haha, although I think he should be an Eagle fan...just my opinion haha. Please feel free to PM or post any questions you may have. Hope to see you around the boards.
Enjoy the site!
~Matt
