I actually know one of the founders of Huddle House, or used to at least. I worked at a private golf course in the summer during college and he was a member there. His name was Lib Julian...they have (or used to at least) a Lib Omelet named after him.
And yes, that was relevant to the conversation...somehow...

Is it law throughout the south or just in Georgia that every Waffle House has to have a Huddle House within 100 yards?

Ha...I think that's just Georgia...the short bus of the South! I wish I could find it now, but a while back I read an article about a Georgia wedding that was held in the parking lot of the local Huddle House because the groom couldn't get off work...so they got married during his break or right when his shift ended or something like that...
