    Getting back to collecting again!

I used to collect like crazy when I was younger, but moved away as it got pricier.

I'm back now, mostly to collect favorite players (auto/jersey/limited print) as I find it to be much more affordable that way!

Although I do miss the satisfaction of opening a box/pack...

Anyway, this forum looks great and I can't wait to participate.

    Thanks guys!

Oh and in case anyone cares, I'm mostly looking for Red Wings cards old and new - generally autos and swatches. Figure it would be a nice little hobby on the side.

    Hey Gordy,

Welcome to SCF! Glad you decided to join the boards. This is the best place to trade cards, talk about em, or just meet new people with the same interests. Its always cool to see former collectors get back in and see all the crazy new ideas card companies have come up with. Although saddly, card companies are going more and more expensive and making more high dollar cards in the market. Its still just as much fun and it makes getting the big pulls better. You'll have to get back into busting boxes, its too addicting, but instead of busting, I just buy singles, instead of risking the money to pull a scrub. I was hoping Michigan State would win it all, because I'm over the Tar Heels winning and all. Please feel free to PM or post any questions you may have. Hope to see you around the boards.
    Enjoy the site!

    Thanks Matt!

My girlfriend has been making fun of me because she says I get all giddy when I'm talking about cards now. I used to buy packs/boxes regularly as a kid. I thought I beat the addiction (apart from a pack once a year or so)... but about a week ago, it just all came back!

All these high priced big ticket item sets are too pricey for me, so I think I'll stick to nabbing my favorites for a little cheaper. I haven't even been on a day and I already purchased an Abdelkader Future Watch auto card (MSU alum like myself!) on here.

Anyway, this site looks great and I look forward to wasting a lot of time on here!

Nice to see more college collectors on here. I'm a Marshall Collector, although that means I collect about 5 bigger name guys haha, and a bunch of little guys. Don't worry most girlfriends thinks its dumb to collect "men on cardboard" haha, they'll get used to it sooner or later. I'm lucky enough to have one that actually collects to, but I blame her for making me a nascar fan
