Rockets Torch Americans 6-2 to Win Series!
The Kelowna Rockets are going back to the WHL Western Conference Finals!
After a slow start in which they gave up the first goal in the middle of the first period, the Rockets exploded for five goals in the 2nd to pace themselves to a convincing 6-2 victory over the Tri-City Americans. Kelowna fans were ragging on Chet Pickard throughout the evening, particularly after jumping to the 4-1 lead.
Many NHL fans have reason to be excited -
Dallas Stars draft pick Jamie Benn scored his 7th of the post-season, following up a 4-point performance earlier in the series.
Calgary Flames prospect Mikael Backlund (whom Darryl Sutter wanted moved to Kelowna after the World Juniors) scored two last night, including a beauty of a short-handed goal.
Buffalo Sabres prospect Tyler Myers was his usual dominant defensive presence.
The Rockets will await the winner of the Spokane-Vancouver Game 7 matchup to determine their Western Finals opponent.

Congrats to the rockets, my local Brandon Wheat Kings completed their 2nd straight sweep to make it to the eastern finals vs. Calgary. Both teams are 8-0 this playoff season

Congrats to Kelowna, hoping they can win the next round, along with Calgary, so I can see my buddy Grantham play in Calgary in the final!

Having lived in Kelowna for 8 years, I have a special spot in my heart for the Rockets (and the Spartans of the BCJHL before them). GO ROCKETS!!!
